Composing

Candidates will now answer only one question for 50 marks, instead of two (x1 melody and x1
harmony) for 100 marks

Questions can be asked in major and minor keys (up to three sharps and three flats) as previously
indicated

Composing Elective

No change

Listening

Same number of questions.

Reduced number of set works:

  • Piano Concerto K 488 by Mozart will contain no questions on the Allegro assai (3rd movement)
  • Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz will contain no questions on Un Bal (2nd movement)

Increased choice for Irish music:

  • Question 5B: students answer on one topic out of five

Listening Elective
