“Dusk: they will work tomorrow without him” – The Famine Road
Eavan Boland’s poetry left a lasting impression on me. It is multifaceted and incredibly deep. It gave me the the opportunity to find genuine new insights into how conflicts arise and how they are sustained, how relationships evolve and the valuable gift of letting go. Boland isn’t simply diplomatic, she is honest and magnanimous – to me, she is a poet with real integrity and a big heart. Her style seemed a little plain to me at first, then I realised that it allowed the peak moments of her poems to peak even higher.
